Join AVSAB

Membership Application (pdf)

Veterinary students have the opportunity to participate in AVSAB in two ways:

  • Join as a student member: For just $7.50 a year, you can have all the privileges of full membership, with the exception of voting rights. This includes access to our Listserv and our quarterly newsletters. And, students who are members in their senior year receive a free AVSAB membership for their first year after graduation! Use the printable form to join as a student member.

  • Join your school’s Student Chapter of AVSAB: Participating in a SCAVSAB is an excellent way to enhance your knowledge of animal behavior and get to know other students who share this interest. Members of AVSAB student chapters:

  1. Are entitled to free registration at the AVSAB annual meeting (lunch and proceedings not included).

  2. Get free individual membership in AVSAB along with access to the Yahoo Listserv and Quarterly Newsletter

  3. Ability to Procure a speaker from the AVSAB Speaker Bureau (along with a $350 stipend)
  4. We also have a listserv for student chapter members so that veterinary students from various schools can communicate directly and share ideas about chapter activities and experiences. Current SCAVSAB clubs have been very active and sponsored various practical and theoretical activities related to animal behavior.

If your school does not already have a chapter, here’s all you need to start one:

  • Five students, with at least one student representing each class

  • An adviser who is a member or willing to become a member of AVSAB

Once you have your group, you will need to e-mail the AVSAB Recording-Secretary ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and note your intent.
