Although you may not realize it any path you take in life will require leadership. You can also see leadership is required in your career, relationships, and parenting. For those who does not posse leadership performing these tasks can be challenging. This book helps outline some of the qualities one must posse to have good leadership.

The only real measure of commitment is action. "Nothing is easier than saying words. Nothing is harder than living them day after day"-Arthur Gordon. Commitment opens the door to achievement. If you want to get anywhere worthwhile, you must be committed. Maxwell says to improve on commitment you need to look at where your time and money are really spent. You need to know what's worth dying for in your life. If taking the first step in a commitment is a problem try making it public this might help you be more committed. If you're not fully committed there will be somebody one day you will have to face that will have and advantage because they are more committed.

Quality four is Communication. Communication is not just what you say but also how you say it. If you want to connect with people you need to simplify your message. To become a better communicator, become audience oriented. Show the truth, believe in what you say and live what you say. Seek a response from people don't just give them information. Maxwell says to improve communicate be clear about things and use simple words. Refocus your attention on the people's needs, questions, and desires. Make sure your living your message and receive comments without defensiveness. Don't allow the importance of a piece of communication to complicate its simplicity.

Quality five is competence. Competence goes beyond words. It's the leader's ability to say it, plan it, and do it in such a way that others know they you know how and know that they want to follow you.- John C. Maxwell. You need to should up everyday not just in body. Keep learning, growing, and improving. Follow through with all tasks giving to you. Accomplish more than expected by going the extra mile with the task. Inspire and motivate others to do the same. Maxwell says to improve you need to get your head in the game, redefine the standard, and find three way to improve your professional skills.

Quality six is Courage. Courage begins with an inward battle, doing what you are afraid of doing. Courage is making things right, not just smoothing them over. Courage in a leader inspires commitment from followers. Fear limits a leader, courage opens doors and that's one of the most wonderful benefits. Maxwell says to improve courage go out and do something that you fear. Talk to someone your are avoiding a confrontation with in your life. Take a giant step in your life that you have been afraid to do. A courageous act often brings unexpected positive results.

Quality seven is Discernment. Discernment can be described as the ability to find the root of the matter, and it relies on intuition as well as rational thought. Discover the root issues by seeing a partial picture and filling it in intuitively. Enhance your problem solving by working in your areas of strength.
