3 Day Analysis Of The Diet

588 words - 3 pages

A big part in todays world is eating, in fact it’s one of the main factors in life. You wake up and eat breakfast, go to work and eat lunch, and then come home and eat dinner, not to mention the snacking done in-between each one of those. You don’t really realize how much junk, un-healthy, bad, and hurtful foods we put into our bodies every day. Throughout the Diet Analysis Project, I was able to look into my diet and examine what I was eating, what types of nutrients I was getting and how much . I did an eating log for three days, one weekend and two weekdays to really look into my diet and see if I was eating healthy or filling my body with unwanted bad foods. I then compared my recommended levels of nutrients for my DRI and the actual amounts I was ...view middle of the document...

In my diet I was under average in vegetables and fruits mainly and way over average in grains, protein, and empty calories. For instance an empty calorie would include added sugars and fats mainly. When we break down my diet we see a couple things, I am low in my colaric intake by about 300 kcal, and in protein I overshoot by about 60g. In a lot of places in my diet I very sufficient in foods: fat, cholesterol, omega 3, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, B12, folate, iron, zinc, and sodium. Some of that is a goo sign while others are a red flag.
When looking at my diet I would say I have a slightly unhealthy diet due to the over shooting in most of my areas of dietary needs. In my diet I should be gaining weight due to me doubling the needs of protein and adding unneeded calories and total fat. In my diet I am lacking in Vitamin A, Vitamin D, and potassium. This lack in nutrients can cause a nutrient disorder and for rashes specific for that nutrient and then can lead to death later on down the road if things escalate. In each aspect to improve those deficient nutrients I need to eat more oranges which are loaded in vitamin C, I could eat more fish that are sufficient in vitamin D, and lastly baked potatoes for more potassium. Some other changes that could effect my diet for the better have to do with activity and eating healthier. For a better lifestyle, going to the gym will help to shred some unwanted fat storage and can help in eliminating unwanted calories. In other words I need to stop taking in so many calories and start focusing on eating fish and baked potatoes instead of fried chicken sandwiches and hamburgers. This dietary goals has really opened up my eyes to see how my diet isn’t the beat and that I really need to start looking into eating more fish and less fried foods.
