Abortion: Is it her choice or theirs

While a woman should have the right to choose abortion without being criticized, the issue of abortion is very disputable. Everyone has their own individual opinion. Many people believe abortion is a moral issue, but it is also a constitutional issue. It is a woman's right to choose what she does with her body, and it should not be altered or influenced by anyone else Abortion represents a woman's right to choose whether or not to continue a pregnancy, and this is a fundamental human right and reproductive freedom that is protected by the United States Constitution. This basic and important reproductive choice should not be made by the ...view middle of the document...

Men and women generally hold similar views on abortion, but women are more likely than men to say abortion should be allowed in all cases. There are striking differences by political party: Democrats are more inclined to think abortion should be available, while Republicans think it should be restricted to cases of rape, incest, and to save the woman's life or not permitted at all. One of the main philosophical arguments against abortion is that of the status of the foetus. Many people argue that the unborn baby is a ‘person’ and should be afforded the same rights and treatment that any one of us expects. Many will argue that the fetus should be entitled to the same life as anyone else. It must be allowed to have a future and gather experiences as it progresses through life. Life consists of activities, experiences, certain landmarks, e.g. growing up and projects which are unique to each individual. But abortion would deprive the unborn baby of these experiences which is the wrong thing to do, therefore taking away their right to live.
Some arguments against the pro-life side are directed to the abortion issue itself, while others focus more on the perceived hypocrisy or insensitivity of pro-lifers. Some of the most common pro-choice arguments are as stated: That the fetus is really a human being, “The Fetus may be alive, but so are eggs and sperm. The fetus is a potential human being, not an actual one; it’s like a blueprint not a house, an acorn not an oak tree.” Another argument is that a woman should have the right to terminate an unwanted pregnancy for whatever reason that may be, it is her choice to do as she pleases with her body. Abortions are considered high-risk, but new data suggest that the procedure is considerably safer than childbirth. has a scary reputation, regardless of whether you’re for or against it. But the perception that it’s a high-risk procedure isn’t rooted in truth, according to new research. The research discovered that women are actually 14 times more likely to die during or after delivery than as a result of complications from abortion.

Pro-life arguments against abortion include the importance of recognizing that human life is sacred and that killing an unborn child is murder. Since life begins at conception, abortion is akin to murder as it is the act of taking human life. Abortion is in direct defiance of the commonly accepted idea of the sanctity of human life. No civilized society permits one human to intentionally harm or take the life of another human without punishment, and abortion is no different. Some pro-life supporters argue that if there is uncertainty as to whether the fetus has a right to life, then having an abortion is equivalent to consciously taking the risk of killing another. According to this argument, if it is not known for certain whether something (such as the fetus) has a right to life, then it is reckless, and morally wrong, to treat that thing as if it lacks a right to life....
