Abortion is murder, plain and simple. It is the extermination of an unborn child. I never did understand how anybody could be pro-abortion but preach others to take responsibility for their actions. So many women look at sexual intercourse as a recreational sport because there is an easy way out. Free clinics and most physicians’ offices you go to offer free birth control options and protection. Why would you not want to take advantage of that?
The United States has the highest teen pregnancy rate than any other country. “About 820,000 teens become pregnant each year.” (Teen Help 2013) My cousin, a sophomore in high school, once told me that her friends were all sexually active because they knew there was a way out if they were to get pregnant. Is that the ...view middle of the document...
However, I took the necessary steps to prevent any further pregnancies because I knew there was no way I could take care of another child. I took responsibility for my wellbeing, my children’s wellbeing, and wellbeing of our futures.
If we were to ban abortion, it would show these girls that there is no way out. They need to take responsibility. We all know that the sexual activity in teens is never going to stop, so why not teach them the proper way to be safe about it. Why not show them that there is no easy way out of the situation? It would not only reduce the teen pregnancy rate, but it would also reduce the amount of women on welfare. “80 percent of unmarried teen mothers end up on welfare.” (Teen Help 2013) “Only one-third of teenage mothers completes high school and receives their diplomas.” In addition, “By age 30, only 1.5 percent of women who had pregnancies as a teenager have a college degree.” (Teen Help 2013)
There is only one stipulation to illegalizing abortion, and that is rape. Rape is a forced and unwanted sexual intercourse. These women did not consent, so with that said they were not taking on any responsibility for the action. In order for the abortion to be legal, these women should have to come forward and file a rape case with the police department. Alternatively, go to your nearest hospital and report it.
In the end, if we finally went to the source of problems and fixed them as a result, many other problems could be fixed. So by banning abortion, we could have higher graduation rates, and higher amounts of college degrees. Prison rates and juvenile detention rates would drop, and the future generations of teens would follow in our footsteps keeping future teen pregnancy rates down. It is all about taking responsibility for your life.
