It is the market leader in tobacco industry with 605 market share, in terms of market capitalization the Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad announced the company ranked to 25 companies. The company’s main objectives are to manufacture high quality tobacco products designed to meet diverse consumer preferences. We have a combined history of over 90 years in Malaysia going back to 1912. The wealth of expertise, coupled with leading edge technology and efficient systems and processes employed in all aspects of our business activities, position us well to meet the challenges of the future (BAT, 2012).

British America Tobacco Malaysia has a large numbers of employees with key responsibilities of leaf buying and processing to manufacturing, marketing and distribution of tobacco products. Around Malaysia it has set up strong and comprehensive distribution channels which cover the whole geographic are that ensure the brands are available everywhere in Malaysia. In addition, the company has enabled to maintain the leadership in Malaysian tobacco industry by increasing share and satisfying consumer demands over competitors. To achieve the company goals and sustain growth it make sure the responsible to market demands and thus ensure sensitive manner to organizational environment. The company believes the leadership based on the market share, qualitative leadership in organization’s eyes, and in the eyes of stakeholders (Marchex, 2012).

Even, British American Tobacco is the world’s second largest tobacco group in the global market in terms of share. Now the group is operating more than 50 markets around the world. The British American Tobacco Group has 45 branded cigarette factories in 39 countries, purchasing approximately 460,000 tonnes of leaf in 2010, grown by around 200,000 farmers. The group has sold 708 billion cigarettes in 2010. All over the world the British America Tobacco group employs more than 60,000 employees. Its portfolio of more than 200 brands includes leading international brands such as Dunhill, Kent, Lucky Strike and Pall Mall (report, 2012).

2.0 Management team Strength:

The British America Tobacco Malaysia has diverse management team where the team members are experienced persons within the industry. Due to the management team strength the company is able to sustain rapid growth as decision making is the vital factors to keep business growth. The board of directors of British America Tobacco Malaysia consists of executive and non-executives directors where the groups has collective responsibility for the success of the company such as executive directors are responsible for direct business operation where the non-executive directors responsible for judging the decisions taken by the board (Directors, 2012).
