Amillenianism literally means no millennium. This name stems from the disbelief that there will be a literal thousand year period called the golden age, either before or after the return of Christ (Gregg 459). This view unlike the others, is not a new concept, even though the name is new. In fact, R.B. Strimple claims this particular view has been around as long as Christianity (83).
Amillennialists generally assume that all millennium prophecies are fulfilled in between the first and the second coming of Christ (Gregg 459). The time subsequent to the first ...view middle of the document...
This passage clearly confims a different timing for each, first resurrection at the first coming, second resurrection at the second coming. This alone makes me mad.
Along with the resurrection wickedness, amillenialists will disagree with the thousand year reign on earth. Revelation 20:3 speaks about Satan being locked away in the abyss so that he cannot tempt or deceive the nations - - earth. I personally believe that God will reign in both heaven and on earth during the thousand year period.
Dispensationalism is "a period of time during which man is tested in respect to his obedience to some specific revelation of the will of God" (Pentecost 391).
There are three components of dispensationalism that I need to go over before I get deeper into the theology of it; first, dispensationalism consistently interprets the Bible literally. I have found that other views go literal and symbolic, depending on the subject, but not dispensationalism. Second, dispensationalism distinguishes between the church and Israel. This kind of approach allows us to understand that at one time, God was dealing with Israel, but now He is dealing with the church, and one day He will deal with Israel again. Lastly, dispensationalism has to do with understanding God's ultimate purpose; that is, God's drawing His people to Him by the sacrifice of His son.
Finding these components were very easy to locate. Dispensational interpretations of the Biblical clearly focus on the need for deliverance, by bringing out the dismal position man is in without Christ, and then it showing God's amazing grace through salvation.
The Dispensational Premillennial view believes that Christ will return before the millennium (pre-tribulation) - - the thousand years. There are two stages or phases that must happen. First, "the church will be raptured out of the earth seven years prior to the commencement of the millennium" (Gregg 458). The church represents the resurrection of all true believers: Jew and Gentile, alive and dead; they will be transformed and glorified. This rapture could happen at any moment. Following these events, "the rapture of all God's people occurs; risen believers and transformed believers are caught up in the clouds to meet the descending Lord in the air" (Hoekema 189). The people that are mentioned are believers - the church, they will proceed into heaven for seven years for the celebration of the feast of the Lamb.
The following major sections of events can be broken into six sections: 1. Satan/Anti-Christ is unleashed to do as he pleases . 2. Terrible judgments fall on the inhabitants of the earth. 3. The 144,000 pre-marked Jews will accept Christ as their Savior.
4. The 144,000 will begin to preach the "Gospel of the Kingdom". 5. Many Gentiles will be brought to salvation.
6. All kings of the earth will join together and attack the people...
