The Culture of BMW
When we think of culture must do not equate it the work environment. However, culture plays a very important role in the work environment. This is something that those at BMW have realized. Seeing that the culture of a corporation effects the way employees interact and view their jobs BMW makes their work culture one of the most important factors throughout their corporation.

Another strong aspect to this culture is the company offers top salaries as well as health benefits to help keep employees motivated to their highest working level.
Model of Leadership
The model of leadership is another strong factor that plays into the culture of the work environment. The leadership at BMW can be seen as one that values the employees and listens to all their ideas. This type of open door leadership allows all the employees to feel as if they carry value to the company, as well as all the achievements made by the company.
As the web site for BMWgroup states, “At the BMW Group, sustainability is not just the responsibility of one particular department. All employees are called upon to implement elements of corporate sustainability in their area of responsibility (bmwgroup.com).”
Most companies select a few “key” employees to create teams when new projects arise. However at BMW “they create informal networks where even the most unorthodox ideas for making better Bimmers or boosting profits can be voiced (BMW’s Dream Factory).” By focusing all employees on all aspects of the company it allows for a feeling of appreciation and value. This helps to enforce the open door leadership model that is in place.
Another example of leadership is the hierarchy that is seen in most companies is not seen within BMW. Team brain storming is used on a regular basis to create and implement many different ideas. BMW’s leadership involves all employees at all levels. Job Characteristics Model
The jobs characteristics model as stated in the text, “is one of the best known approaches to job design (p.139).” This “increasing the amount of skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy, and feedback in a job. Three critical psychological states: (1) experienced meaningfulness of the tasks performed, (2) experience personal responsibility for tasks outcomes, and (3) knowledge of the tasks performed (p139-140).”
It seems that BMW runs it organization using this model as a major role. By implementing the open door communications and entrepreneurial culture it can be said that BMW makes sure that all three psychological states continue to stay positive.
