Jacynta typed her name into the screen and waited for the page to load. She nervously bit her nails as she was anxious to see what reply she would get. The Facebook logo popped up on her screen, but the red icon over the message symbol was the thing she was focused on. She completely ignored the rest of the page, including all the statuses and photos her friends had recently posted. She clicked the red icon and closed her eyes, praying to god that the answer would be yes. She slowly ...view middle of the document...

Jacynta wasn’t bad looking by anyone’s standards, but she lacked self-esteem, and as a result she lacked social skills. She was too shy to hang out with the “popular” group, and most other people thought she was too weird. She had close friends, but just not a strong structure of friends. She untied her long black hair and got up to turn the light switch off, she had enough of the world for one night.
Jacynta woke up late the next day, a smile on her face as she had the best dream. It was the date of the ball; the whole school was at the front of the hotel. Jacynta stepped out of the limo with the most beautiful boy she had ever seen. She saw the look of jealously on every girls face as she walked towards the stairs with her nameless date. Jacynta’s mood suddenly changed as she remembered it was just a dream; she was still dateless in real life.
It wasn’t until late in the afternoon that Jacynta checked her Facebook, she spent most of her day studying for her coming exams. And for once in her life she was quite happy to spend a few hours going over her history text, it distracted her from her worries. She was quite surprised when she saw that she had a friend request from someone that she had never met, that had barely happened to Jacynta. On any other day she would of denied it as soon as she saw that they had no neutral friends. But she was feeling lonely, and what harm could come from meeting a new online friend?
Jacynta clicked on his profile, James Lucas his name was. Based on his profile pic James was good looking, really good looking. It had to be a mistake, Jacynta though, why would a good looking guy like James send a friend request to her? She sent a message to James, asking if they had met, he quickly replied back:
James: Hey We haven’t met before, and I don’t usually do this but I added you because I thought you were cute.
Jacynta: This is a joke right? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Jacynta: Thank you? So what school do you go to?
James: No problems I go to a high school east of the city. You? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Jacynta: Um, you probably won’t know it, it’s called Franklin High School, its half an hour south of Perth.
James: Yeah I think I know where it is. Hey I have to go, mum’s calling. Il talk to later! Bye
Jacynta: Cya!
Jacynta pushed the chair back, just realising what happened. She had just talked to a random and told him where she went to school. She swore under her breath and blamed herself for being such an idiot. She had...
