Many articles and support the issue that broken families affect the child’s performance, attitude and self-esteem. They show statistics that broken families affect much of the child’s emotional and spiritual being, that it greatly distresses the child’s education. 
The problems children from broken homes are facing with the resultant failure in school.
Single parenthood has been found to adversity affect the learning situation of human being particularly the children that is to say, children who are reared in homes where parents are separated or divorced are most likely to be faced with sleep disturbance in class while learning and become irritable, fearful, aggressive and withdrawn (Cole and Cole 1993, Vander Zanden, 1980). Studies further confirm that children in one parents household not only do or perform poorly in school because they tend to lack self control, but also become disruptive in the classrooms, instead of paying attention to what is being taught in class, they are busy disturbing others who are ready to learn. 
A child who is brought up in stable home is well fed and provided all he needed will definitely perform well in his academics in school.
 
 Reflection:
It is difficult to cope up with the feeling of being away from all your love ones. You need to overcome loneliness for you to be able to concentrate on your duties; you will be pressured because all those people who are far away from you are expecting a lot.As a Maritime Student all students need support to learn successfully, especially children who divorce and separate from their learning potential and intelligence. definitely perform well in his academics in school. The status of the family determines the type of influences and the level of educational attainment of children that are brought up in various homes. A Seaman's life is a hard and sometimes lonely life, without family and far from friends.
