As the American energy crisis grows, we continue to look for domestic solutions. The United States contains large reserves of unconventional natural gas resources in coal beds, shale, and tight sands. Recent technological advances have led to a rapid increase in the development of these resources. The new advances have led to an average annual growth rate of 48% in shale gas alone and is expected to grow until 2035. This new technology has also increased the number of wells from 18,485 to 25,145 between the ...view middle of the document...
Energy cost is an IV, and as a numeric (ratio) level of measurement.
Job creation is an IV, and has a numeric (ratio) level of measurement.
Potential hazards is an IV, and has a numeric (ratio) level of measurement.
Ho: There is no relationship between fracking and the cost of energy, jobs created, and potential hazards.
H1: There is a relationship between racking and the cost of energy, jobs created, and potential hazards.
PPI Energy and Chemical Team provide information about the correlation between natural gas production and the cost of natural gas. PPI Energy and Chemicals Team (2013) between the years 2007 and 2012 the producer price index fell 56.8 percent in response to the strong growth in the domestic energy production. Similar trend could be seen in other natural gas and petroleum products. There are products that follow the trend and other succumb to the opposite effect.
Cruz, Smith, and Stanley (2014) from 2007 to 2012 the total annual average employment in all the U.S. industries decreased by 3.7 million. Also during this period employment grew in each of the three oil- and natural gas-related industries. The annual pay growth in these industries also was larger than the growth in the national average annual pay. Supporting activities for oil and gas operations had the largest increase over a study. This increase added 85,347 jobs and reached a level of 282447 jobs in 2012.
Manuel (2010) the EPA suggest that fracking has led to the contamination of some drinking water. The water has apparently been contaminated with methane in some instances and others have been contaminated with the proprietary chemicals used in the procedure. Theoretically this could pose a public health threat. However, because ground water is separated by thousands of feet of earth there is always the possibility of contamination from other sources. This makes it difficult to establish a definitive connection between contaminated drinking water and fracking.
The sampling method that I will be using is the systematic sampling method. Systematic sampling allows researchers to break a large population size into a small sample size. The objective of this study is to identify if fracking is more or less beneficial and if fracking is actually understood by those affected. The variables included play a significant role in the survey. The presented variables are as stated: dependent variable is fracking, independent variables are cost of energy, jobs created, and potential hazards.
The participants in this study will be 18 students of a UoP business research class. The student will be provided with a pre-survey, a quick presentation, and then a post survey. All surveys and information provided will be non-bias.
All participants of this survey will need to provide informed consent of their participation....
