Case Study
The basic IT implementation process is the whole process of setting up and running an IT based program for a company. It starts from the beginning to the end of the process and throughout the whole process even after the last step has been taken. You have the planning stage, and this will include what exactly what you are looking for and what you want the program to do and how it will operate. Who will be using this program and who will it be beneficial to. You will have to go and get bids or quotes from companies that can provide this type of service. There were way off budget and there were a lot of hidden details that should have been reported. At least this way there would have been a detailed or explained explanation of why the system is not functioning correctly and exactly how much more time and money will be needed to complete the task at hand.
In this case study the project was doomed from the beginning. There was no understanding of what the board members really wanted and people where either pushed or persuaded to take the ball and run with it. There where cases where questions should have been asked and the answers returned. The right questions where not asked and because of this there were problems when the system went live. People were given instructions on not to relay bad news and to make things happen. Well if the bad news is not reported then false reports will be given and that why I say that the project was doomed from the beginning. When you are instructed to not report bad news even though this is part of the job and this is information that will be detrimental to the success of the project what is one suppose to do. No one wants to lose their job, but this also plays on professional responsibility as a team player.
In this case I would have reported all the information regardless of what was told. Not only will this help in getting an out a successful project will be build credibility in your decision making process. It would have saved the company a lot of money and it might have prevented others from not losing a job. I would make sure that all questions and scenarios that could arise be addressed and what would be the next step to ensure that they would work. I would make sure that there is a good and effective training program in place to ensure that all employees are thoroughly trained.
