Club IT is a music venue downtown, which is operated by two business majors, Ruben and Lisa, who also have experience in the music scene through working in the scene during college. The club is about 6,000 square feet with a 600 square feet dance floor, and seating for 220 guests. The club also has a kitchen, which serves appetizers and small entrees, and it features, a large bar with four pouring stations. Given this information, Club IT should concentrate on expanding its existing website to give guests a personalized experience to the club on its website.
To begin this challenge, the Club owners need to find what their guests would expect out of a more personalized website. To do so the club has already hired an intern to find ways of expanding their information technology options. The intern has researched other club’s websites and found out that they offer several personalized options on their websites. They offer an internal website, where guests can register and login to see such links as picture galleries, list of upcoming events, savings coupons, and information about the different DJ’s and music that they play. The picture galleries of every night provide registered users with the possibility to tag themselves in pictures, and publish those on social network sites such as Facebook, and MySpace. All those features could enhance Club IT’s website and make the guests experience more personal.
To find the information needed, the intern could collect data through giving out opinion cards when the guests enter the club, which gives them a list of new features to chose from that they want to see on the club’s website. The options could be those that other club’s offer, or any other ideas that the team has come up with. Additionally, the intern could ask the employees to talk to the guests that come in on a regular basis to find their opinion on the website’s expansions and compile a list of ideas.
