Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS), is a disease of the human immune system caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). This hazardous disease still doesn’t have any antidote to cure. For this reason, this illness becomes easily spread among the society in the world. HIV transmission occurs in three ways, they are sexual intercourse, exposure to infected blood, or mother to child transmission through birth or breast feeding. This transmission problem has become the government and the world problem, not only personal problem anymore. Next, condom has many weaknesses if it use for preventing AIDS since its function as contraception tool to prevent the pregnancy. The General Director of WHO Hiroshi Nakajima (1993) said that the effectiveness of condom is still doubtful. Beside that, J Mann from the Harvard AIDS institute also stated that the degree of condom safety is only seventy percent. Most of all, there was a research from Prof. Dr. Biran Affandi (2000) found that the failure of condom to prevent birth reach up to twenty percent. How if we use condom to avid AIDS while the size of HIV is much smaller than sperm. HIV is small enough to pass through latex condoms, or that condoms have an unacceptably high “failure rate” (the frequency which condoms break or slip off). All these reasons said that condom is not tool to avoid AIDS. For all who already thought that by using condom you will safe from AIDS a hundred percent, just rethink what you already decide.
My opponents might say that I am narrow-minded or don’t care about the society, as they think I just concern about how distributing condom message doesn’t give negative impact rather than the purpose itself. They might think that I do not understand their purpose, although it is true that the message of allocating condom freely...
