Attributes of the Ideal Leader in Higher Education

The first article I reviewed was authored by Leslie Ennis (2008) and is entitled The Inevitability Of Conflict and The Importance of its Resolution in Christian Higher Education. Ennis (2008) stated, “ Conflict within institutions of higher learning, both among individuals and corporately, is a pressing issue for modern-day American higher education. In this article West deals with conflicts in universities in a number of different countries ranging from China to London. The article discusses the philosophy of the different countries as it pertains to education. The author makes very interesting points and as he compare higher education, universities and other businesses. He talks about dealing with conflict in higher education, as it would be dealt with in the corporate world. West also dissects a case study that was conducted at a University in Swansea, which divulges into the universities practices and the core of what the university stands for.
The fourth article I reviewed was entitled Combining conflict resolution education and human rights education: Thoughts for school‐based peace education (Jones, 2006). This article has a completely different focus from the three previously reviewed. In this article, the author discusses the difference of what’s being taught as it pertains to conflict resolution in higher education. The author discusses how peace education is becoming increasingly popular the focus of what’s being taught. Jones discusses how peace education focuses on the whole person and has a human rights emphasis where as conflict resolution does not. The author makes it very apparent that they are more for peace education, as they believe it is best, especially when dealing with high school and higher education.
The fifth article I reviewed was written by Kathryn Girard and is entitled Preparing Teachers for Conflict Resolution in the Schools (1995). Girard starts the article off by stating:
