Effective communication with people of different cultures is especially challenging. Cultures provide people with ways of thinking--ways of seeing, hearing, and interpreting the world. Thus the same words can mean different things to people from different cultures, even when they talk the "same" language. When the languages are different, and translation has to be used to communicate, the potential for misunderstandings increases.

FPT is a multinational company with many staff from all over the world, especially in Western and Estern countries. Each staff from different country follows their own country’s culture. As the result, the cultural disagreement is inevitable
In Western culture, communication is described as talking directly and frankly. This means that everything must be clear, people do not need to pay too much attention to the conversation context and the listener does not need to take the "translator" or guess mind. However, the concept of "communication" is not consistent with many other cultures, where the meaning lies deep in conversation transmit messages .. So in the negotiations between the two cultures East and West, the Eastern people can understand culture and communication in the West, but the West will be difficult to understand the culture of the Eastern Communication .
An American leader managing the interface construction project for customer data systems of FPT Group, who has worked with both the Americans and the Japanese explained the problem in his group "In Japan, people want to talk and discuss. Then we will take a break and chat with each other. Japanese staffs always want to have harmony in the organization. The differences in communication directly and not directly between cultures cause serious consequences in the relationship between the members when the project encountered difficulties. The difficulties in communication always make information sharing restrictions, creating conflicts between individuals, which hinder effective work in the group.
