As a home based carer my aim is to provide a safe, clean and healthy enviroment at all times.
I will ensure all toys are in working order with no broken pieces, bits hanging off or sharp edges, that toys are age approapriate in accordance with manufacturers guidelines, that they are clean, safe and have saftey marks. Any large play equipment must be fixed in place. Before using any equipment I will read the instructions to ensure correct use if I am unsure I will seek help.
All cleaning products are put away out of reach, plug sockets are covered, stair gates in place, that high chairs and pushchairs have five point harnesses in place. My home will have smoke alarms, a fire blanket, ...view middle of the document...
Children will be provided with clean cutlery, their own face clothes to wash their hands before eating, a seat where they can reach the table safely, left overs will be disposed of promptly and no pets allowed in the dining room.
Pet bowls will be washed seperately, I will ensure pets are tolerent of children and any mess cleaned up promptly.
Children may be allergic to many things I will need to be aware if they have any allergies and be observant. Some children may need a epi-pen if they have servere reactions I will need training to use this and need to carry it on me for the child. If a child is ill, there is an incident or accident I will keep them calm and see If meadical attention is required I would follow my policy for such occurrences and contact the parents as soon as possible. After an accident I would record it in the accident book. I will have a themometer in my setting. If a child is sick or has diarreoa bleach or disinfectant will be used to clean thouroughly, they will be sent home and not allowed back until 24hours after the last bout.
When out and about I will cross the road in a safe place, practise good road safety, make sure pushchair is in good working order ie brakes, harness. If using play equipment I will check it is in good...
