Das Unternehmen Google

In einer Zeit in der Suchmaschinen unbrauchbar geworden waren, trafen sich die beiden Doktoranden Larry Page und Sergey Brin und beschäftigten sich mit den Suchalgorithmen und es entstand das Suchmaschinen Objekt „BackRub“. Im Herbst 1997 benannten sie ihre Suchmaschine in Google, in Anlehnen an die Zahl „Googol“ (10^100) und gründeten am 7. September 1998 das Unternehmen Google Inc. Heute ist Google ein Weltunternehmen mit circa 11000 Mitarbeitern weltweit und einem Quartalumsatz von ca. 2,69 Mrd. US- Dollar. Am 30.11.2007 erzielte Google einen Wert von 66 Milliarden US- Dollar und ist somit weltweit die stärkste Technologie Marke. Keine andere Gesellschaft ...view middle of the document...

Im Jahr 1999 erstellten Sergey Brin ein Google Logo, dass anlässlich Halloween anstelle der zwei „o`s“ 2 Kürbisse aufweist. Dadurch entstanden die „Google-Doodels“ die anfangs weltweit für Gesprächstoff sorgten. Das sind veränderte Logos die an bestimmte Feiertagen oder Anlässe auf der Startseite zu sehen sind.

Die Google- Strategie

Bei den vielen verschiedenen Aktivitäten von Google kann man schnell den Überblick verlieren, da Google so gut wie jedes Thema, das mit Suchen zu tun hat, besitzt.
Hier nur einige Auflistung der vielen Aktivitäten von Google:

- www.print.google.com : Bücher werden von Google gescannt und indiziert
- www.google.com/froggle : Google bietet einen Produktsuche mit Preisvergleich an
- www.video.google.com : Durchsucht das TV- Programm (bisher nur im amerikanischen Bereich)
- www.maps.google.com : Besteht aus beliebig vielen zoombaren Detailkarten und einem Routenplaner
- www.news.google.com/ : Nachrichten können online abgerufen werden
- www.googlestore.com/ : Online Shop von Google
- http://www.google.com/talk/ : Online Messaging Programm von Google
- https://www.blogger.com/start: Es können Fotos und Gedanken gepostet werden

Viele dieser Funktionen gibt es bisher nur auf dem amerikanischen Markt und das meiste ist noch nicht ganz vollständig. So fehlen zum Beispiel bei den Karten bei Google- Maps noch die Maßstäbe und einige Komfortfunktionen.
In der Öffentlichkeit sind aber andere Funktionen, sowie der Freemail- Dienst Gmail (www.gmail.google.com) und der Bildmanager Picasa (www.picasa.com) am beliebtesten. Gmail ist deshalb sehr begehrt da es nicht von jedem genutzt werden kann. Denn nur wer einen Account von Google bekommt, kann lediglich nur weitere 50 Personen einladen, die sich ursprünglich bei Google beworben haben.

Google- Werbeprogramme

Google schaltet nicht einfach nur eine Anzeige wie Zeitungen und Zeitschriften, welche den Internetnutzern keine Aufmerksamkeit zukommen lassen würden. Stattdessen wurde eine gut durchdachte und listige Methode erfunden. Google verkauft interessierten Firmen einen Werbelink.
