I Don't Want To Miss A Thing -Aerosmith
I could stay awake just to hear you breathing
Watch you smile while you are sleeping
While you're far away and dreaming
I could spend my life in this sweet surrender
I could stay lost in this moment forever
Well, every moment spent with you
Is a moment I treasure
I don't wanna close my eyes
I don't wanna fall asleep
'Cause I'd miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
'Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream would never do
I'd still miss you, baby
And I don't wanna miss a thing
Lying close to you
Feeling your heart beating
And I'm wondering what you're dreaming
Wondering if it's me you're ...view middle of the document...
These people have their quirks, and are many times strange. However, they form such a lasting impression on us that we can't help but love them. Aerosmith's, "I don't wanna miss thing" reminds me of those very special people in my own life. These are individuals who loved, and continue loving life no matter what obstacle might come their way. They are people who continuously give me the strength to keep moving forward when I feel like I can't go anywhere. Hearing this song, I think of them, and "I really don't want to miss a thing". This song is a constant reminder of those people who knew the true meaning of life and never took it for granted, for they knew how short it was.
Aerosmith's, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" is a power ballad. Power ballads are often tear-jerker songs, generally focusing on love or in many cases, the lack of it. A power ballad is delivered through powerful vocals, accompanied with rock instrumental beds, particularly electric guitars, keyboards and drums. This particular power ballad appeared on the soundtrack to the film Armageddon. Armageddon was a film directed by Michael Bay back in the 90's. "I don't wanna miss a thing," remains very popular today. It is a well known slow song that is played at a variety of celebrations, including weddings. Many brides and grooms choose this song as their wedding song. The most fascinating thing about this, is that it never gets old.
The lyrics are clear. They are about being in love, and cherishing the person you're with. Some might even say that this song is overwhelmingly "creepy". "I could stay awake just to hear you breathing," sounds like a stalker wrote it. I however, have found a different meaning in this song. I don't share this song with my boyfriend, and never did. I share this song with two people in this world who I know love me more than anything on this planet, and I reciprocate this love.
I have never felt more love in the world, than I do from my grandparents.
My great-grandmother, Ada, was more full of life than anyone I've ever met. She was a holocaust survivor, and I was lucky enough to have her raise me for the first 17 years of my life. She was the most family oriented person I'd ever known. She lost most of her family in the war, including her husband, yet she would never let you know that pain. She moved her family to a foreign country all on her own, and established herself here. Her main concern was taking care of me. She would dress me up for school, make me breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and put me to bed, after reading several bed time stories. Ada could cook any meal from scratch. Anything I asked for, I received.
There is a particular reason to why this song reminds me so much of Ada. When I was younger, I was extremely afraid of death. My biggest fear was losing her. I knew that she was older, and I found myself preparing to say goodbye at the age of ten. Lucky for me, I had seven more precious years that I...
