Dietary Supplements
A dietary supplement is a food product containing one or more dietary ingredients that is intended to promote health by adding it’s nutritional value to the diet. The substances provided by dietary supplements include vitamins, minerals, amino acids, essential fatty acids, enzymes, probiotics, and herbals or other botanicals. Animal-based and plant-based food sources can be used to obtain the substances. Dietary supplements are manufactured in the form of pills, tablets, capsules, gelcaps, drinks, proetein powder, and sports bars. They are not intended to replace a healthy, balanced diet but are helpful for and perhaps necessary for obtaining a needed intake amount of a nutrient.

Dietary supplements are not purefied compounds like drugs, and introducing impurities into the body is a health risk. They are available without prescription, and through self-medicating some mixtures of organic compounds can reduce the safety or effectiveness of their use. Uninformed use that results in ‘megadosing’ and the false idea that ‘natural is safe’ can lead toxic levels of a substance in the body. Interactions with prescribed medications can produce negative, harmful, or adverse physiological effects.
The FDA of the U.S. government does not approve dietary supplements for safety and effectivess before they are marketed which would result in standard regulations. Such products are required to have a supplement label which gives their health facts and ingredients. The responsibility to provide such products without the use of false or misleading information, and in ensuring that the product is safe before being marketed, belongs to the manufacturers and distributors. Only new ingredients to the market, after the year 1994, and reviewed by the FDA.

I am unfamiliar with this product and all products of this type, and therefore without other products to compare to it to I have to remain highly skeptical at this point in regard to it’s effectiveness. The nutrients that it provides appear on initial observation to be no different than those on the label of a multivitamin. If in fact the nutrients are the same, then I would be curious to know why this product is supposed to work better than a multivitamin which probably provides even more nutrititional value and may be produced by a more trustworthy brand. This supplement is supposedly formulated by a renowned fertility expert, but I think that anyone who understands nutrients and their functions well enough could have been able to formulate it. That can be what’s known as the
transfer technique,” to transfer the prestige of a renowned doctor onto the product.
