This article talks about women in the workplace in Poland. In Poland women represent 45% of the total number of employee. This is observed in most of the European Union counters. Over 50 years this was very different, they had fewer woman because they prefer men, and the workplace was still only for hiring white, fit (not disable) and young males. Companies are trying to aim towards diversity and equality, and are establishing equal chances for everybody of both sexes.

He was having lunch with one of the companies intern, a Colombian woman who was about to graduate from college. Moed, was impress with the woman’s PR skills and he asked her if she would be interested in joining the firm full time after college. He got the surprised answer of his life.
She stated that she has learn a lot from work with this company, but the company is not good enough to hire people of color or who are diverse; this makes her feel uncomfortable in the workplace. It was not the place it was about the culture aspects of who she is and her ethnicity or any other ethnicity.
After speaking with the intern, Peppercom has instituted a variety of activities including Latino-themed parties and bring in diverse speakers to talk about cultural trends in minority communities. This has opened the eyes of Peppercom and 12% of their workforce is from diverse backgrounds. That is an improvement from before.
The corporate PR execs and their agency brethren are working on doing the right things and trying to make changes in their hiring practices. They are trying other ways to recruit senior people who aren’t just coming out of the agency or the coming out of the corporate.
They have a program, called Growth and Recruitment through Diversity (GRAD), which targets entry-level employees that comes from black and diverse colleges. They will guarantee and interview but not a job. That to me is a start.

This article defined diversity as a quality, state, fact, of instance of being diverse; different, according to Webster College dictionary. If we take a look at diversity in today’s times we will focus on sex, age and disabilities. In our workplace today diversity is related to people difference and their identities.
In America we have thought of diversity as a legal or moral concern. The Civil Right Act, intended to eliminate discrimination and racism, and Women’s Right Acts, focus on eliminating sexism, in the workplace. There are more Acts and programs that were create to help protect the employee rights in the workplace.
There must be changes in the workplace that will train the managers, supervisors and leaders. There can’t be managers given employee special treatment because they are not of your race or color. Perception can hurt you and the company as a whole.
We must invest the time and money for getting training on diversity in your organization. Understanding your people and keeping your managers, and supervisors trained will increase their knowledge, awareness, and sensitivity to culture aware. The will keep your employees and business together.
