The internet has become a valuable tool for business. Virtually every business could utilize the internet. For advertising to current customers and reaching new customers by advertising or a mass mailing program; to communicating with employees business cannot thrive without the internet
For my organization, the internet is used extensively. e-Business allows employees to telecommute, view webinars, access e-mail and provide ways to transfer files (FTP), work on remote computers (via telnet) and also have the ability to telecommute, distribute information in the form of pages (via the internet) along with conducting e-business and e-commerce activities. Through the organization’s IT department we have been able to establish a cost effective network such as extranets, intranets, VPN.
Probably the two most important effects the internet has had on our organization is the ability for both our customers and suppliers to easily access their accounts online and that the organization has been able to keep the cost of the networks in line with the return we are able to realize, this has had positive effects on network costs and the IT department over the years has had a progressively easier task of ease of setting up a network using TCP/IP and internet based technologies. Also as another positive, e-mail has allowed us to have almost real time documentation available with messaging, invoicing, and customer service operations. e-Mail has proven to be a valuable tool, more effective than the post office mail.
Within my organization, the internet does serve as an incredible function of us becoming a world leader in our industry. The internet serves as a functional means in making progress in our business around the world. With the internet providing immediate and essential information, it has turned out to be a valuable partner in the organization’s growth in businesses worldwide. Research has become an easy task for employees by way of the utilizing the internet. Employees do not have to do as much field work as traditionally was required thanks to information they need is readily accessible through the internet. Communications with the suppliers and customers as well has been extremely fast by the use of different software that helps connect the people even in remote locations, thereby making all transactions with their customer or supplier account available in a much shorter time. Along with these advantages that the internet has allowed to my organization, it is obviously indistinguishable to the rapid growth in sales and enabled us to further expand the capabilities of our internet presence.
