An Understanding how the Team’s motivation can be improved


This paper examined how the teams motivation improved as a way of understanding the problems of individuals as a member of organizations or teams. Findings suggest in order to motivate people to higher levels they should satisfy needs in defferent levels

Whether in the sports field or in the workplace, or even amongst members of a community, effective teamwork can produce ridiculous results. But every organizations are prone to the d angers of demotivation at all times. However, it is really important to be aware of it and to recognize and tackle it. I asked some of my previous co workerabout what makes them demotivated about their work because we all know that demotivation is indeed contagious; even one demotivated employee who constantly cribs about work or other undesirable factors can quickly work on demotivating others too.

To discuss demotivation efficiently ,an organization must know the reason behind its uninspired attitude. If a manager or even a co worker can help motivate worker, it could go a long way to boost the employees morale and motivate him/her to be optimistic and have a positive attitude towards work.

What makes people demotivated (Dr. Javitch, David)

➢ Favoritism- it is the unfair practices that favour one worker over another ( I have experienced this problem personally)

➢ Lack of appreciation- staff feels unappreciated for his efforts.

➢ Too much work-staff feels overburdened with a disproportionate chunck of work which renders him unable to perform his duties well and punctuality.

➢ Lack of clarity in work-staff flounders at work due to lack of clarity on his various tasks.

➢ Mistrust-this deals with an employee resorting to micromanaging everything, displaying mistrust in a co worker’s capabilities.

➢ Lack of communication-free flow of communication is withheld or information is provided only on a “need-to-know basis. This can be demotivating as it proves that the boss or organization does not fully trust its employees to share all available information.

According to my previous co-workers and also base in my own experience other reasons may be:

➢ weak team leadership
➢ paying too little
➢ poor training

In order to create a motivating environment, a manager must work hard to avoid these problem and understand what will motivate his or her team and the individual members of the team. And for me, the easiest and fastest way to determine at least some of the sources of the issue is to simply ask the employee. Ask what the cause of poor morale and what the employee believes can be done to turn it around and nevertheless his or her employees will receive a sense of pride and worth that their manager asked them for their input.

How to motivate employees

➢ offer recognition of the employees efforts. Its good to hear if my manager say, “well done” or “nice job”or any number of phrases that communicate to the employee that they care about the job and about them and as a manager he/she recognized an improvement in productivity of his/herr employee. Also, an employer or the manager can give performance award to their employees or have their name mentioned at staff meetings or it can be posted on a bulletin boards to say that this employee did a noteworthy job.
