Ethics Reflection Paper
Ethics are important guidelines for all organizations to establish. Ethics drive an organizations culture and a lack of ethics can lead to very negative results. When describing ethics simply it can be defined as what is considered right and wrong. An organizations ethics should be clearly defined for all of its employees. Managers and leaders should always lead by example in making decisions that do not conflict with the organizations ethical principles. Establishing ethics can often times be much easier then actually living them.

Then the organization should live these values through their actions and decision-making.
Today many organizations develop core values to help drive the right behavior in their organization. Core values are underlying values that should be used to make all decision no matter how big or how small. An example of a core value could be something as simple as the golden rule, treat others the way you want to be treated, very simple, but also very effective in guiding the right type of behavior, accountability, and consistency in an organization.
Throughout my MBA my view on ethics have evolved as I have progressed through this program. As an employee of an organization I have previously found myself shrugging off ethics as obvious standard protocol. As a manager I have seen co-workers, employees, and even leaders struggle with ethical dilemmas. When I first started with my organization there were no core values and ethics were only discussed during annual or bi-annual required trainings that provided little substance or direction. Throughout the years my organization has placed a larger emphasis on ethics and the results have been great. To experience this as I was discussing it my program only helped me to understand the importance in establishing this ethical baseline.
The overall culture in my workplace has definitely changed for the better though...
