Vitamins are organic compounds that are necessary for proper functioning of the human body. Some vitamins can be manufactured within the body, such as vitamin D, which is created through the skin when exposed to sunlight. However, most vitamins must be obtained through diet. It is important for proper functioning of the body to have the adequate levels of vitamin intake.
Acquiring the proper intake of vitamins is not always easy when dealing strictly with diet. While some vitamins such as A are easily obtained through a variety of foods, other vitamins such as C are more difficult to obtain ...view middle of the document...

For instance, vitamin A, D, E, and K are stored in fat and liver cells in the body. When levels beyond what can be stored in these areas are achieved, these vitamins will begin poisoning the body. For this reason it is important to watch the fat soluble vitamin intake so as to avoid these complications. The following chart shows the benefits and negative impacts of fat soluble vitamins as well as high nutrient sources of these vitamins.

Unlike fat soluble vitamins, water soluble vitamins are less toxic because they are not stored in the body. Once the body has sufficient amounts of the water soluble vitamins, whatever is left is excreted. The following chart shows the benefits and negative impacts of water soluble vitamins as well as high nutrient sources of these vitamins.
