When referring to the iceberg diagram the id is found completely submerged underwater and is a very large part. The ego is largely conscious and it mediates among the demands of the id, the superego, and reality. This operates the reality principle which satisfies the id’s desires as realistically as possible and brings out pleasure rather than pain. This portion is found floating on top of the water and compared to the id and the superego is very small. The superego represents internal ideals and provides your standard judgment and future aspirations. This part is located also underwater and next to the id on the iceberg diagram and is medium sized in comparison to the rest of the parts of the diagram (Myers).
