1.1 To express needs, share ideas and information, to reasure people and express feelings, ask questions and to build relationships. Communication is a basic requirement of my job as a carer to communicate with individulas there families and other members of staff on a daily basis. communication between myself and other staff ensures good teamwork and high standards of care. Residents communicate with us too express there needs and prefrences, as a carer I would discuss the options and choices available to allow them to make a choice regarding there care.

Also if the person I am talking to can speak they may tell me they understood but there body language may indicate they havent.
3.1 Sensory depriation-when someone has an impairment to one or more of there senses, visual or hearing or both.
Foreign language-when the person speaks a different language they may not be able to understand the information being given to them.
Religion and cultural differences- male carers not being able to give care to female residents.
Health issues-when people are ill they may not be able to communicate as well this can be with my work collegues and residents.
Distress- when a person is distressed they may find it hard to communicate, they may be teary and have difficulty speaking so might not listen properly to what i said.
3.4 There are 4 sources of information and support for residents to enable better communication these are, translation service this will change the written text from one language to another, for speakers of different languages. Interpreting services this will convert the spoken language into another language to help the resident understand better. Speach and language therapist, this service is used when a persons illness has affected there communication to help find other ways of communication.
