Title: Why the Current Health Care System Is In Turmoil
The US health system is in turmoil mostly because of two major issues first being that the cost of treatment is very high and the second factor that is affecting the health system being that most US citizens lack medical coverage and thus are unable to get access to good health care services. These two factors have put the current health care system in a crisis because it has made health services expensive and thus unaffordable to the citizens.
The high cost of health services is caused by most hospitals charging high fees to their patients mostly because there is low number of qualified doctors. ...view middle of the document...
The aim of the responsible body should be to produce more doctors for the already thirsty market. This could be done trough considering the option of introducing a less high qualification for those willing to train in medicine. They could be offered to high school graduates or military recruits who have good O level grades would be trained in medicine and then employed by the government to provide health services to the public. They should also aim at increasing the funding of the health system through other products that affect the health such as tobacco and alcohol. A health system with enough funding is favorable to every citizen and this makes access to health care services affordable (Barsukiewicz, Raffel, Raffel & Raffel, 2010).
The second problem is that most people lack medical insurance cover. This is due to the fact that a larger population can not afford the high cost of premiums of hundred of dollars per month and this leaves many people uncovered. This problem affects health service delivery as some people who are not covered by the health insurance are forced to pay the full hospital fees which either leaves them bankrupt or with huge debts. This leaves the poor in a position to no receive quality health care due to lack of finance and in turn increases the mortality rate. This can only be resolved by introducing a universal deluxe coverage that applies to taxation of everyone including those covered by private insurance to contribute towards the funding of a state insurance plan. Every citizen should contribute to the deluxe coverage plan in order to expand the health insurance (Hacker, 2008).
