Human Resource Management means to Select, Develop, Motivate and Maintain human resources, in the organisation. It first selects the right human resources or staff (i.e. mangers and employee). It trains and develops them. It motivates them by giving them recognition and rewards. It also provides them with the best working condition. HRM is directly concerned with the "People" of the organisation. It is people oriented process. That is manage people at work. (Akrani, 2011)

Manager are required to have a people skills, so that he is able to relate to both employees and customers. Manager should also have the leadership qualities so that he can comfortable lead and manage his staff.
I will be talking about the small restaurant, problem employees can be easily visible and adversely affect operations, quality of food and customer service. In such a small business Owners and managers should be able to identify potential problem and strive to resolve them whenever for the smooth operation of business. There may be various problem and issues in a restaurant such as employee tardiness which is typically simple to resolve. Challenging issues and critical issues are theft or harassment which requires immediate attention and stringent consequences. A problem that an employee in a restaurant may demonstrate any of the following characteristic, behaviours or signs:

Poor customer service | This situation occurs when the customers are not satisfied with service. As a result they will not come back to the business. It is easy to lose the customer then gain one. |
Insubordination | It refers to anyone disrespectful or defiant |
Drug and alcohol abuse | This may refer to an employee under influence of drugs and alcohol at workplace. |
Vandalism | Employee responsible or involved in deliberate destruction or damage the property. |
Theft | Employee involved in stealing at work place. |
Harassment | It is a feeling of intense annoyance caused by being tormented that an employee feels at work place. |
Above, are the various issues that a restaurant manager has to face at the workplace. Being a manager he has to work out with this issues in an effective manner so that this does not affect both employee and business. Further, I will be taking about how manager deals with this situation and comes up with the alternative solution for the smooth operation of business.
