The essential elements of forecasting the supply of and demand for human resources have a number of ingredients. Other employers may hire permanent employees and then have a reduction when conditions related to work demands rise or fall which would temporarily increase or decrease the size of a workforce through lay-offs (reductions) or recalls (increases), this type of environment is less desirable because of the lack of stability. Overtime is also a tool that can be used to temporarily increase the size of an organizations workforce. By adding additional hours to an employees work schedule, an organization can increase the amount of work being done by an employee there by increasing the size of an organizations workforce
