Human Resource Management
There are a variety of human resource management methods and practices; however, the primary goal of all of them is to ensure success. The HRM staff must consider many things when creating a plan to reach organization goals; some of which include, benefits, compensation, staffing, leading, organizing, etc. Throughout this document we will discuss various topics that the HRM staff must take into consideration to increase productivity and the effectiveness of employees. I will also discuss how human resources affect me at my current place of employment and how an understanding of human resources will help me reach my future career goals.

Members of HR must view the company’s situation inside and out to determine the necessary actions to take to ensure success. This process includes examining the company’s environment internal and external, determining goals, forming strategies to determine that company goals reach success and ensuring there are enough organizational resources to achieve the goals. To create this plan the management must view the goals they chose on three different levels after they get an idea about the environment they are working in. These three levels are strategic, tactical, and operational. The company now has the goals set on the three different levels but to ensure success they must now make sure that they have the resources to achieve these goals. They must plan for the cost of the material or procedures as well as employee wages.
One of the tools HRM personnel will use to create a plan is called a SWOT analysis. This process allows the HR department to make a plan based on data collected in the industry and within the organization. This process looks at the labor force to determine if the organization is over strength. They will also look at forecasting and future tasks that need to be done. They would then look over the data collected from the industry and implement a plan of action. During this analysis the HR department identifies positive and negative items that can have an effect on the organization. They came to this conclusion by looking into the future and determining the amount of tasks that would need to be done. The work load would soon decrease so they sold off part of the organization and laid of eighty employees, many of which were immediately hired by another mortgage company. This process is known as workforce downsizing.
I believe that this is very important to an organization. The organization is really throwing money out the door when they are over staffed. With temp agencies widespread organizations can utilize these services to cut down on costs. At my place of employment they use temp agencies to fill these needs; however, I would do things a bit differently. We are in a transitional stage at my place of employment and have a lite work load in several departments. I believe it would be more cost effective to cross train employees with the lite work load. They could still have a home department but can be used in multiple departments when they are needed. This process could help cut down on costs and provides additional training to valued employees.
Staffing is a key component to a successful organization and cutting down costs. HRM staff will conduct a labor market analysis, as I previously...
