Honing Strengths or Shoring Up Weaknesses:Which Is More Effective?
Honing Strengths or Shoring Up Weaknesses is written by Melissa Raffoni. The article starts with mentioning that we don’t need to have strength
in everyaspect of your role in order to be as tandout. However; we need to be productive and if company's don’t stretch people, they will ultimately
get bored with their jobs and leave. In order to stop that, company's need to know the weaknesses of their employees, so they can try training them
because people can and do change. The article also states that the key issue, is to concentrate on the weaknesses that matter, because the real mistake that
many managers do is they assume that people really know what they want. On the other hand, the article states that sometimes managers even know
the people's weaknesses , but because of the employee doesn't think his or her weakness as a weakness, it is hard to motivate them for the training they don't
Secondly, the article states that there are some people having a potential to be really talented but they need to be inspired by. It states that managers need to
do more than help to help them finding their natural talents. In my opinion, I personally agree with personal development approach, because a person can have weaknesses,
but her strenghts could be more valuable to company rather than her weaknesses, so keeping that person in the company gives her a chance to train herself and do better every
other day. We are all humanbeings and none of us is perfectly borned; however, we are the only creature that thinks that we know, so to do better; everyone of us must train
ourselves to do better in every challange.
