The Costs of Illegal Immigration
A good heart is not enough for good economics. There is to many instances in the history of the United States where people mix the ideas of rationality and personal morals. This confusion causes decisions that are not based on a factual basis but rather on a set of values of a person or group. This prevents us from actually finding views that are worthy of our respect. When people are unable to differentiate between rationality and other views people, mutual agreements are impossible. Many public hospitals especially in the areas with a high illegal immigrant population are facing extreme financial hardships because of the services that they are rendering to these aliens without reimbursement. The CAIR estimates that there is 200 million dollars in these expenses, which ultimately causes hospitals to shut down or downsize. It can be seen as a horrible thing to do but would giving the hospitals the ability to turn people actually help our healthcare system rather than hurt it. Many people who are tax-paying citizens have to wait in long lines and given the same quality of treatment that illegal aliens are. This is a injustice to the many people who are here legally and have to contribute the healthcare system.
Education is one of the fundamental aspects of American society. This education is also provided to illegal aliens and their children. 7 billion dollars a year is the amount spent on educating the children of illegal immigrants according to CAIR. This gives American children the same opportunities as those whose parents are in the US illegally. Many moral values come into this issue. By allowing the children of illegal aliens to receive a quality education it is only encouraging those to illegally immigrate! The institution of public education weakens daily because of the funding needed to operate it. Some immigrants may pay some taxes but the true cost of education is not nearly made up in any sort of sense. This lowers the quality of education by spreading our school resources to the extreme and in turn doing an injustice to all children no matter if they are illegal or legal.
Illegal immigration is a crime so it makes sense that crime brings more crime. This is not to say that all illegal immigrants are bad people, many are quality individuals that do not support crime. However there is a large population of illegal immigrants that are involved in illegal activities. These costs to our society may outweigh any other.
