When a youngster turns into an adult from his teen life, he/she needs to be more responsible towards other people of the society. Almost everyone have had a few liabilities within self and thus it’s very important that he/she practices or follows academic honesty even if they have to follow consequences of their actions, this faith in the system would definitely be paid off in the longer run. Being an honest person takes nothing hence it is not a complex thing to be followed. If the will is strong enough to be maintained with the determination to follow consequences and keep on doing the good work then being honest is like child’s play.

Its initiation comes with the student getting enrolled into an institution like college or an university because generally at this age only one feels more vulnerable and addictive to misconducts in exams and other dishonesty practices. After the enrollment procedure is done a student must be fully aware of the institution’s policies followed because it instills the concept of maintaining honesty in the campus.

Now let us see what actually the scholars have derived the meaning of the word “Academic Honesty”. It is the act of resisting oneself from cheating, plagiarism ( Plagiarism is the method by which a person copies someone else’s work as himself including the actual work, ideas , thoughts as own), copying answers or stealing any material that is prohibited by the university or institution, changing the academic records which are confidential and not for student use, trying to harm fellow mates reputation or performance that may include harassing , copying their work or by trying to help those in need that time which is also termed as collusion.

Academic life is initiated with the main aim of getting good grades that will lead to good results and finally success in the respective fields. Hence the need for academic honesty gets even higher in such cases. Every person is not born with skills or the determination to work out the way to glory hence the concept of hard work is introduced here which meets the ends for such people. As hard work is hard and cheating is somewhat easy and gets good results it somehow makes a person addicted to it like drugs. At start the students following such practices may enjoy success when they get unnoticed by the administration but in later stages when they have to compete they just falter continuously.

To achieve excellence in a field and true knowledge being offered working with determination, commitment, and hard work is must else a student can never be successful in life. Even practices such as cheating, plagiarism won’t help because at some they point they are going to get caught. It is often preached that being honest in academic life will lead to a person being truthful to his job and more reliable which in fact is the best moral one can act and help for the betterment of the society.
