Operating a business is hard and what makes it harder is not being familiar with the information systems being used. A business owner should have the understanding of which information systems work best for the business. | Not making sure that everyone is familiar with the system would cause tasks to not be completed. |
Expert Systems | Will approve credit card transactions. | System crashing would cause us not to be able to process credit card transactions. |
The benefits of each system will allow us the edge to keep our business going. The benefits of information systems allow small business owners to control daily operational tasks using personal computer equipment with different software designed for individuals with limited knowledge of information systems. Business information systems enable businesses to use business software that is easily accessible through purchasing them off the shelf. In buying off the shelf it eliminates the expensive costs of custom designed software, lowers IT cost, overhead costs, and increases profits.
Starting with the first information system that I propose we use is Transaction Processing Systems which will allow our company to ring up our customers in an automated way. This system will allow us to ring up our customers who have credit and debit cards. This system can be designed to make transactions more efficient by storing and collecting the stores sales transactions, creating purchase orders and providing data for individual sales. A drawback to using the Transaction Processing system is if the system goes down we will not be able to use the automated system and we will have to do transactions by hand for instance like in a receipt book.
The second information system I propose we use is Functional Area Information System. The Functional Area Information System will be used to track employee’s hours. The Functional Area Information System will allow us to automate the payroll process. The Functional Area Information System will help us keep track of information such as hire dates. A drawback to the Functional Area Information System would be if the system goes down employees will not be able to clock in.
The third information system that I propose we use is the Management Information System. The Management Information System will allow us the ability to track our inventory from the time we purchase it from the retailer to the time where the merchandise is sold. The Management Information System will also include information such as the sale price, purchase price and even information on profit margins. The drawback to the Management Information System is of course if the system goes down the tracking process of the inventory will slow down being that we will have to track incoming and outgoing inventory by hand until the system comes back up then we will need the time to input it all into the system.
The fourth information system that I propose to you is an E-Commerce System. The E-Commerce System will allow our business to begin selling online creating more income coming into the store. The E-Commerce System will...
