Integrity is a concept of actions, values, methods, measures, principles, expectations and outcomes. Integrity is regarded as the quality of having an intuitive sense of honesty and truthfulness in regard to the motivations for one's actions. (1)

If we fail to operate fluidly than the army would not be the mighty feared force we are, in essence the United States of America would not be as powerful as it is.
Integrity is an integral part of everybody's value system, a person with a "lower" value system generally is more prone to dishonest behavior, or to take the easy way, especially when no one is watching them, which in the long run could hurt the entire team because shortcuts where taken and something that needed to get done did not and it will hinder the overall mission not only making everyone else look bad, but double the work load needed to be done compared to the original amount of work needed to be done. A person with higher integrity values generally sees the now much an action can affect other people involved in the actions they are about to take, and see that a negative action will hurt everyone more than anything in the long run.
When a team fails one mission it looks bad on the team, a leader looking down doesn't see one individual they see the team. That leader is less likely to choose a team that fails, because of the team or just an individual, over a team that shows good team work and can accomplish tasks put before them. A team where each member puts their best foot forward is a team built on a good value system and each person does their own part to get the mission done. A true leader has the integrity to accomplish a mission in the absence of orders, and to do it the right way, without taking a shortcut or leaving something out. A leader with integrity gets the job done no matter how long it takes even if it means staying late after everyone else has left.
