Google: Internal and External Factors
Globalization, technology, innovation, diversity, and ethics are internal and external factors that affect the four functions of management in organizations throughout the world. Google is one of those organizations. Google and its management teams mission is to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful (Schneider, 2011). The need for information right at its consumers fingertips have aided in the birth of several products from Google. The four functions of management have led to Google’s success. Google’s management teams have done a great job of meeting the needs of its consumer by accessing their needs. It is evident that Google has used both internal and external factors to plan for the future. Google has used society’s need for information right at its fingertips to improve a function of its search engine, auto complete. This gives the user quicker results even before they finish typing by offering suggestions to what they might be searching for. Google’s success is also evident in the many acquisitions of other technology based businesses. External factors have also contributed to development of many new products and ideas at Google.
Gmail, Google’s E-mail and Google Chrome, Google’s Web browser are examples of new developments. Today’s culture and technology go hand-in-hand, as do the four functions of management. To lead and control, a company must first plan and organize. Google provides a blueprint for making the necessary changes based on what society needs and where the evolution of technology will bring us.
Innovation starts with the planning process of every idea within the Google Corporation, from the lowest level to the highest level position possible. Google believes that radical innovation and unconditional thinking should be put into everything step of the planning of any new design. They base this process on supportive management, creative organizing, unique leadership, and the controlling process that work together at some point to get the innovative idea out of an individual. Google bases their business on and has invested in several programs and designs to encourage innovation to everyone that take part in that planning and system building process.
Google encourages and motivates staff, stockholders and users to become a part of the innovation team by offering them the opportunity to build and test program as they are created. They offer grant programs, innovative ways to get involved with things that they feel strongly about and offer’s that space for research, discussion and gains the involvement of others by making the community aware of it through blogs and searches engines. They are always researching sites looking from areas that the community has shown a tremendous amount of interest in and has found ways to research those areas of interest and creative new and innovative ways to enhance and make them more interesting.
Google has searched the community for individuals with unique, innovative, and professional leadership skills, partnered with them through employment to have an advantage on the next and best creative organizational plan.
