Is The End Coming? Essay

“Is The End Coming”

Most people remember exactly what they were doing on September 11th 2001 when the most damaging terrorist attack was executed by Islamic extremists. This event changed our country forever and gave everyday civilians a glimpse of the new type of warfare that we have to defend ourselves from. This day was shocking to the American people because most of our generation have not had to deal with violence and war at such a close proximity to where they live. Also their was the attack on the U.S.S Cole, A 35-foot boat laden with the explosives RDX and TNT with two bombers on board rammed the USS Cole port amidships while it was refueling in Aden harbor, ripping a ...view middle of the document...

No matter what background someone may have when reading the book of revelations the similarities to current day events is striking.

This rise of Islamic terror could be setting the stage for the some events in Ezekiel 38-39 these chapters prophesy an invasion of Israel and its allies in the end times by a coalition of nations all of whom were Islamic today except Russia. Israel announced just 6 months ago that a new “axis of terror”- Iran, Syria, Russia and the Hama’s- run Palestinian government are a serious threat to their national security (Walvoord 44). Currently America is Israel’s Strongest Ally and it is clear that there are some nations that hate us because of this alliance. These government alliances all have happened eerily similar to what was prophesized in the Bible.

In this day and age oil is something that has to be looked at when trying to make sense of the current alliances in our world. America uses more oil then any country although countries such as China and India are catching up very quickly (Hitchcock 111). Imagine what would happen if our supply of oil from the Mideast were shut off; this actually happened in 1979 and 1973 (Walvoord 271). My mother recalls that you could fill your tank with gas depending on if you had an even or odd number on your license plate. Odd license plates would get gas on Monday, Wednesday and Friday; and even plates would all other days. She also recalls stories of shootings at the gas stations and a general feeling of fear and chaos that ran through our country during this time. In our time the cutoff of oil would be even more disastrous as our whole economy would almost completely shut down. The food at all of the grocery’s would barley last because there would be no trucks to resupply the stores.

This is why oil plays such huge factor in the different pacts around the world. Each countries realizes how important securing their share of the nonrenewable energy we call oil, and based on this concern they make alliances that help themselves get their share of the oil that is abundant in the mideastern regions. Russian is now growing again and heading back to a communist government that needs Iran’s alliance to make sure that they will have the oil that is necessary to resistate Russia’s economy (Hanegraff 54). It is clearly stated in the book of revelations that the Mideast region would be the focus of the end times and that Russia and Iran would be close allies, another event that happens almost exactly the way the bible predicts.

In Ezekiel 38:1-5 the bible reads almost like today’s headlines on the news. It speaks of “Rosh” (Russia) and “Persia” ( Iran) as allies against Israel in the End times. It is important to look at the standing government that exists in each of the countries. Russia is not known to harbor and ill will towards Israel so their involvement in a war with Israel would probably be based on their alliance with Iran. The leader of...
