Job Analysis
Job analysis refers to an approach for explaining a specific job and the tacks necessary to fulfill the requirements of the job. One of the main goals is to define the requirements and characteristics of a particular job. The job analysis needs to consider who, what, where, when, and how the job might relate to an individual. Many methods provide different types of information about the jobs and human attributes needed for jobs (Spector, 2012). The potential job opportunity that the author will discuss is Life Coach for struggling teen girls and young women through Trinity Teen Solutions. The job description includes a high moral and ethical standard with a strong Christian/Catholic background. They must live with the girls, monitor their activities, and maintain harmony through good examples and relationships. This allows opportunities to share Christian philosophies with youth and find the goodness within while providing direction for returning home. Functional Job Analysis was the method used to construct the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, which contains over 20,000 job titles. The title that best describes the authors selected job is a Clinical Therapist. The Department of Health defines a Clinical Therapists as one who counsels individuals or groups regarding psychological or emotional problems, such as stress, substance abuse, or family situations, using evaluative techniques, and develops and implements therapeutic treatment plan in medical setting ("Dictionary Of Occupational Titles", 2003). The clinical therapist also interviews patient to obtain information concerning medical history or other pertinent information and observes client to detect indications of abnormal physical or mental behavior ("Dictionary Of Occupational Titles", 2003). Some of the tasks involved range from incorporating proper treatment methods, such as psychotherapy, hypnosis, behavior modification, stress reduction therapy, psychodrama, and play therapy. The knowledge required education and training, administration and management skills, and therapy techniques are among the most important.
Evaluation of Reliability and Validity of Functional Job Analysis
Functional Job Analysis, which uses observations and interviews for potential employees, proves to be reliable and valid. Subject matter experts evaluate potential employees has proven to produce high levels of validity. According to Spector (2012), the best evidence for the validity of job analysis ratings comes from studies that compared different methods or sources of information, such as supervisors.
