Job expectations have changed throughout the last 40 years. Research was done in order to see the differences in those expectations and compare them by looking at the expectations now and then. This is relevant because we can see the popular jobs of today and get incite into why those jobs are so popular. Is it a norm of society and that’s why they are changing, or is just the demand for different jobs effecting what people choose are their career? This can be answered by looking at the results of the analysis. The hypothesis is the expectation for employment of Tri-Valley seniors has changed over the past 40 years.

To look at the expectation change, the results were compared and a conclusion was made. The expectations have changed and the data recorded during the research was found and documented into a chart comparing the two. (See Attachment 1).
Our research revealed the expectations for being an office worker dramatically decreased. This is found to have decreased because of the change in lifestyles from back then to now. Back then, most women worked in offices but now more women are getting better jobs. Women are also going to college and trying to become more productive with their lives and want to do things that they enjoy. Also many people do not enjoy working 8 hours behind a desk all day, and instead prefer more hands on jobs. The second most dramatic jump was for the military. This can be true because now-a-days, people have more job opportunities and can therefore find a job that they will enjoy doing. Some might also be choosing to go to college and therefore don’t plan on joining the military because they want to focus on their schooling.
Along with those changes, there have been changes in the number of people going to college. Back then, most didn’t see college as something that was necessary, but now almost everyone goes to college. People see it as a good thing and parents will usually push their children to go. Also, college can be very expensive and 40 years ago not many people would have been able to afford to send their children...
