Hallyu Wave in the Filipino Youth

Did you ever hear these words, “Annyeonghaseyo,” and “Fighting!”? Have you ever watch “Full House” series? Have you ever dance to the beat of “Fire” of 2ne1? Have you ever seen a person wearing “Wolf 88” shirt? If not, then you’re like a living dead! This global phenomenon is called Hallyu.
“Hallyu” discuss about the popularity of Korean culture that’s becoming universal and widely known, not only in the Philippines but also in the other countries. Hallyu is the other word for Korean sensation set by Korean Tourism Organization in year 2007. Its culture spread widely through mass media has known the start of Hallyu Wave.

We will focus on its history, characteristics, diplomacy, effects, and its tourism. We will understand its bad effects to us and how it will affects our taste when it comes to our culture. This will be helpful to understand the occurrence of Korean Wave to its neighbouring countries particularly Philippines and what its impacts to the public is.
III. LITERATURE REVIEW
This certain research study aims to determine the Pinoy Youth’s Preference for Korean Culture and how does it affect their taste. Regarding this, I will seek to know what factors of Korean Culture really touches Pinoy teenagers. In addition, I want to differentiate the respondents view towards Korean Culture.
Also, this study would identify if the people’s preference of movies, shows, music and fashion affect their choices in life. In doing this, I gathered information which will help in achieving the goal of this research.
A descriptive research methodology was used for this study. A survey for this study was run to selected people in the High School Department of Infant Jesus Montessori Center. The term ‘survey’ means examination and recording of datas from specific people.
Survey is designed to collect information and datas. Analyzing it to draw a conclusion. There are 3 specific techniques of a survey that I used, (1) questionnaires – questions that participants answered, (2) interview – question to an individual obtained by himself, and lastly (3) survey – brief interview about the topic.
The participants for this study are students from star sections of High School Dept. of Infant Jesus Montessori Center. The participants are composed of 2 girls and 1 boy from Grade 7-Diamond, 3 girls and 1 boy from Grade 8-Sardonyx, 8 girls from Grade 9-Emerald and 5 girls and 3 boys from Grade 10-Amethyst. Infant Jesus Montessori Center is a school for pre-elementary, primary and secondary students. It is located on Camella – Blk. 22 & 23, San Marino City, Brgy. Salawag, Dasmariñas, Cavite.
