Examining the effect of leadership behavior and organizational culture on knowledge management
From 1993 knowledge was an important economic resources and to gain the competitive advantage organization should have emphasis on knowledge. Now a day its knowledge based economy in which knowledge based organizations have focus on the process of knowledge management which is knowledge creation, knowledge acquiring/learning, knowledge sharing and knowledge transferring. For this purpose banks need strong leadership and skilled employee. So the problem is here that how the bank’s management utilize the knowledge management process and tool to remain competitive and also what role leaders/mangers play for effectiveness of knowledge management process in the organization or banks and effect of organizational culture on it.
Objective of the study:
Main objective:
The objective of this study is to find the role of leaders in learning organizations to implement the knowledge management effectively and how organizational culture effect on it.
Sub objective:
* To determine the effect of transactional leadership behavior on knowledge management
* To determine the effect of transformational leadership behavior on knowledge management
* To determine the moderate effect of organizational culture on leadership behaviors and knowledge management
* To determine which variable has strong impact on knowledge management

Literature Review
Knowledge management:
Knowledge can be defined as the psychological result of perception, learning and reasoning. Knowledge is the combination of experience, context, interpretation and reflection (Davenport, De long, and Beers, 1998). Most of the organizations emphasis on knowledge because it has become the true asset of the organization to compete in the market. In spite of this, many organizations still not have emphasis on to manage this important asset effectively to gain competitive advantage (Gun, Ruan, Gururajan, 2006).
Organizations considered human knowledge as their resources because these are unique, rare, valuable and not replaceable. Organizational knowledge has two types tacit and explicit knowledge. Knowledge management is the process of knowledge creation, transferring, sharing & implementing.
Knowledge management helps an organization in gaining and further understanding from its own experience. Researchers agreed with that effective knowledge management create, captures, share and use organizational knowledge that have significant effect on organization’s performance and competitive advantage that organization gained from it (Gun et al., 2006).
Effective knowledge management not only protects the revenues but also increase productivity, promotion, innovation and retention as well. Properly use of experience and tacit knowledge of employees are necessary for effective knowledge management. It is an organizational structure and process that combine and utilized the intellectual and human capital in problem solving, innovation and learning perspective (Hlupic etal., 2002).
Organizational culture and leadership are the elements in creating, sharing and implementing the knowledge asset (Carri llo et al., 2004; D Tienne, Dayer, hoopes & harris, 2004; Lakshman, 2005).
