Subject and objectives
Cities consume growing amounts of material goods that have to be delivered to their point of consumption (or display / storage for sale). This process is playing a very significant role for the overall efficiency of cities and quality of life of their residents and visitors. Moreover, it represents a relevant part of the vehicle.kms travelled in the city. The purpose of this research study is to develop a conceptual/theoretical framework in order to analyze the city logistics strategies developed in port cities, and to evaluate if in a city with a port can be achieved an efficient distributional scheme through diverse policy and planning approaches.
Research setup and methodology
The methodology will be a combination of literature review, and economic and statistical analysis. The theoretical analysis will be built upon the international scientific literature that follows:
