To be inducted into the hall of fame the Artist must have influenced the development and perpetuation of rock and roll. Artists become eligible for induction in that category 25 years after the release of their first record. Artist must be nominated by a special committee that selects anywhere from nine to a dozen candidates. The ballots are then sent to 500 rock experts who then evaluate the candidates and vote on who should be inducted. The performers that receive the highest number of votes are inducted. Loverboy became eligible for the hall of fame in 2005. Loverboy should be inducted because of their list of accomplishments.The band Loverboy began in Calgary, Canada, when Mike Reno was introduced to Paul Dean in 1980. In 1981 “Get Lucky” was released. It featured “Working For The Weekend.” “ Get Lucky” and the fact that the band had enormous touring success because they were a must see live band helped Loverboy win an unprecedented six Juno Awards. Juno Awards are Canada’s highest music award. This record still stands in 2008. Loverboy’s fourth album was titled “Lovin Every Minute of It.” “Heaven in Your Eyes” a song from that album was featured in the movie Top Gun. In 1987 the bad wrote a minor hit with Jon Bon Jovi. Loverboy broke up in 1988 because some members left to due to creative differences. From 1991 to present day Loverboy has gotten back together and been doing many different tours. In 2005 Loverboy celebrated twenty-five years together.If a band still has a following after twenty-five years they should at least make it onto the hall of fame ballot. Loverboy performed over 200 shows in 1981. They were the first Canadian band to earn Columbia Records Crystal Glove Award. The Columbia Records Crystal Glove Award is given to an artist or band that has sold 5 million albums outside their home country. The band earned 6 Juno Awards in 1982, a record that still stands today. The band has been nominated for 11 Juno Awards. Loverboy has had many all time classic hits .
