For many years people have argued about one of many burning questions. The burning question I will discuss is whether there is a difference between management and leadership. Although there are people who still think that there aren't any differences between the two, I believe that there are many. After many hours of research I have found many differences between the two I am convinced that there is a difference between the two. Management relies on control and leaders inspire trust. Management also accept reality, have short-range views, ask how and when, has their eye on the bottom line, imitate, accepts the status quo, are the classic good soldiers, and do things right. Leaders focus on investigating things, having long range perspectives , what and why, has their eye on the horizon, originating, challenging the status qou, being their own person and last but not least, a leader focus on doing the right thing (Bennis, 2003).Healthy Organizational CultureCreating and maintaining a healthy organizational culture includes values and ethics of employees of an organization according to how they interact with the people inside an organization and with the stakeholders outside of the origination. The organizational norms and guidelines help in creating positive environment for employees in the organization and with other members. It includes modeling of experiences, education, attitudes, values and beliefs of an organization.Organizational culture is the personality of the organization. It consists of assumptions, values, norms and tangible signs of organization members and their behaviors. Members or an organization eventually learn to sense the culture of an organization. Culture is a term that is difficult to express distinctly; however, everyone knows it when the sense it. A good example of it is when you look at a culture of a large, for-profit corporation is different from a hospital which is different from a college or university. You can tell this by looking at the way the furniture is laid out, wheat they brag about and what members wear. This can be similar in figuring out what a person's personality is like.Leadership Role in Organizational CultureOrganizations have both strong and weak organizational culture. The organizations that have strong culture will have evidence of staff responding to positively to stimulus from the leadership of the organization.
