Management and Leadership Paper
Management is not leadership, just as leadership is not management. But in almost every company today, both leaders and managers are necessary for the growth and success of the business as well as the corporation. Although they may seem the same, they are two very different types of individuals that play a large role in the corporation. In some cases, management and leadership can be performed by one individual, and in other cases, they are done by several individuals. JC Penney's will always have the upper management team, but do not distinguish the leaders from the management team. The company gives titles to the employee's. If you are one of the lucky ones, you can be a team leader but that as far as they go, the management team almost never integrates with their worker bees.
When it comes to management, it is said that all businesses and organizations must first find a person who will underline and determine which individual is best for the work that needs to be done, and what their job title will be. They must also determine what time it will start and where the location will be. Along with this, they are often responsible for getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives by using available resources efficiently and effectively. Because of these guidelines, management is made up of four functions of management planning: organizing, staffing, leading or directing, and controlling an organization. These tasks are used in an effort to accomplish the goals set forth by the company. Leadership is different in many ways, and because of this the management must then decide who should be in charge of leading the teams that are needed to accomplish the jobs that are set forth.
As for the leadership and how it affects the corporate side of the business, leaders are most of the time considered to be the front line of defiance for their employees. Leadership is having the ability to give guidance to the employees and help them to understand their jobs. Leadership has been described as the “process of social influence," this allows one person to enlist in the aid and support of their coworkers in the accomplishment of a common task (Team Technology, 1995). Most leaders are often considered to be the backbone of the corporation, and without the right person to plan it, the project almost certainty can fall apart and be a disaster for the company. Due to this, leadership is said to be the ability to successfully integrate and maximize the available resources within the internal and external environment for the attainment of organizational or societal goals.

When it comes to organizational managers and how their leadership works, there are different things that need to take place and certain rules that must be followed in the work place. Due to this, the management team often has to make changes in the workplace to achieve a higher level of employee performance, even when it is not the popular decision.
