According to Philip Kotler's book "Principles of Marketing" , the most important TOP 5 concept in order to understand the meaning of Marketing , in my point of view are :
1) Customer's values and relationship
2) Marketing Strategy
3) Customers relation Management (CRM)
5) Managing the Marketing Effort
The first thing that every company needs to do is approach the customer , respect his values and slowly start making relationship with him . From the simple meaning of Marketing : " Marketing is a managing profitable customer relationships " , we can understand that the relation with the customer is the most crucial thing for a business . Marketing is about satisfying customer need and build strong relationships with them in order to capture value in return . Building a strong and healthy relationship with the customers may lead you to loyal customers-lifetime customers.

That means in other words , that the company must try and achieve what it promises to the customers through the quotes and advertising they are doing . Its like the company is answering all the concerns and hesitates a consumer may have to buy their product.
Customer Relationship Management is one of the most important concepts of modern marketing as it is the process of building and maintaining profitable customer relationships by delivering superior customer value and satisfaction . Its all about acquiring , keeping and growing customers . Moreover , to define further these meaning , customer value is the differences that the customer finds between all the benefits and the costs . Customer satisfaction is about the products that fit the best for each customer's needs and wants .
For a company , having partners in other company departments is helping them have an effective internal value chain that serves customers . In addition , companies need to have partners other companies in the marketing system to form a competitively superior external value delivery network . What does value chain mean ? Its all the process from the creation of a product till the delivery to the customer with other firms' support too . Value delivery network is the partnership between many companies which help each other and through their corporation they coordinate the whole manufacturing part of the product .
The last thing that in my opinion is one of the most important in order to understand the meaning of marketing is the management issue . Its all about the way that the process of marketing is being handled . The first thing that the management does is to analyze the company's Strenghts , Weaknesses , Opportunities and Threats ( SWOT ) . After that comes the marketing planning which develops strategic plan and proceed with the Implementation . Implementation is the acting role ; carry out the plans that were made at the beginning . When the marketing strategies and plans turn into actions , then its time to measure and evaluate the results . If something went wrong then corrective actions are necessary to ensure that the objectives will be achieved .
