fhgn gAdvertising refers to the paid for promotion of goods and services, ideas by an identified sponsor. Among the many types of adverts is the print advert. A good print advert should have the following qualities:
Â· Should have a headline that attracts attention, comunicates benefits, and appeals to the self interst of the readers.
Â· The headline should also set the tone for the rest of the message.
Â· Should have good illustrations that capture attention and match the copy
Â· Should identify the sponsor or advertiser.
Â· Should show and not tell.
Â· The headline should be easy to remember.
Â· A reader is able to identify the sponsor or the advertiser because of the logo on top of the advert.Structural problems at Makerere University seem to be worsening each day despite the newly introduced develoment and technology charges aimed at a rectifying the melt down.
On Monday, Mass Communication final year students sitting for end of semister exams were forced to hand write online exam due to lack of fuel to run the generator following electricity black-out.
â€œListen very well; the head of department says you write and edit the stories manually as we have no optionâ€, Issa Agaba Mugabo, the lecturer who supervised the exam said.
The students were writting Newspaper Editing exam which has a three hour time limmit. However due to vague arragments the exam that started at midday lasted for five hours and fourty minutes.
The paper consited of two sections, the first section with structured questions answeared on a booklet and the other section, editing two stories of about 2000 words, supposed to be done on line.
Electricity went off as students were in the editing section remaining with 25 minutes to end of the exam. The supervisoers remained cluesless of what to do next and told the students to wait for electricty.
â€œBe patient, lets sit upto when electricity returnsâ€, Agaba told the students who were demanding for the generator to be switched on.
After waiting for about an hour, Agaba called the head of department, George Lugalambi, who he said directed that the students edit and write the stories manualy.
What soever one had done online was left out as students were asked to start a fresh.
â€œThis is disorganization of the highest orderâ€, one of the students, Moses Irumba, said as students became rowdy protesting the decision. A handful believed to be lacking computer know-how joviously welcomed it.
