Ethical and Moral Issues in Business
Moral and ethical issues are always present on each morning newspaper, the daily news, and on our surroundings. They confront us in the fundamentals of our daily jobs and encounter us from our children's daily school activities. We are daily bombarded with discussions of drug abuse, the morality of medical technologies that can prolong our lives, the rights of the homeless and abortion, the fairness of our children's teachers to the diverse students in their classrooms, and sexual morality. ...view middle of the document...

A good set of practiced business ethics will take a company and an employee far. Without ethics daily business behavior can become controversial and raise issues among its customers, employees, and business to business dealings.

Many people in business, as well as in other areas of life, feel that morality is personal, that each person has his or her own moral views, and that no one should force such views on others. According to this position, each person is entitled to his or her own moral opinion. All members of a society must abide by the law, but beyond that, each is to be guided only by individual conscience. Many people hold a similar position with respect to different countries and cultures. Each, they maintain, has its own views of what is moral and immoral.
