506 words - 3 pages

It's written in a letter format from another artist, very creative. Excellent A+Dearest Michelangelo,It is with most sincere gratitude that I send this letter to you. I would, first off, like to immensely thank you for praising my works at the Florence Babtistery. I would like to especially thank you for coining the name "Gates of Paradise." I cannot thank you enough. This recognition has brought me great success, and without your comments, I would not be where I am today. I am also writing this letter to you to express to you just how much I admire what you have done at the Sistine ...view middle of the document...

Many of our colleagues may disagree with the way you depicted God in human form, but I think you were dead on. Another specific piece included on the Chapel ceiling that I especially love is "The Flood." To me, it creates a certain hysteria that isn't included in the popular belief of the story. All the peasants scurrying for their lives, it really adds something to the story. I have heard that you couldn't make mistakes while painting, because it was a fresco. I assume these rumors are correct, because I would expect nothing less than perfection from you. I have also heard that you did this almost entirely alone, with helpers only to mix paint and lay plaster. Such a feat as the Chapel ceiling is amazing for a crew of twenty men, it's downright unbelievable. And laying on your back sixty feet above the ground, that is astounding. Your arms must have gotten so tired. Michelangelo, you don't know how much I respect you. I just hope not too much paint dripped in your eyes, you could become blind later in life. We wouldn't want to be deprived of your artistic mastery. Also, I heard you are teaching one of the finest prodigy's since yourself. How is it going with the young one? Raphael, isn't it? Good luck to him in his career. I must depart now, but I will say this; I can't wait for your next masterpiece of perfection.Forever your inferior,Lorenzo Ghiberti
